I dug these two “badges” at one end of an entrenched line that was occupied by Hood’s Texas Corps, which was plowed flat in the '60's for a lawn outside Atlanta. Also found some other things including and a cast brass letter Q (as in HQ maybe?), everything within 50’ of each other.
The ornate script makes the lettering on the metal badge hard to read. I think I see a P then C and S. Both sides are identical with two raised stars against a lined background. It’s pewter, 1 3/8” x 1” and could have had a loop on top.
The other badge was carved out of a flattened bullet and is a near duplicate of the metal one. Faint bullet rings and knife marks are visible but that’s it. Your opinion on the metal badge and the “Q” are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
