Texas Newbie

Greetings to all.
I am completely new at treasure hunting.
I live in South Texas and work on a big ranch where I discovered the joys of rock collecting-petrified wood, jasper, agates and flint. Before I knew it, I had a huge storage shed full of rocks.
Now I've decided to step it up and I went out and bought a relatively inexpensive metal detector. So, now I'm outfitted out with no place to go.
Maybe some of the more experienced hunters can point me in the right direction.
Is there anyplace in Texas to hunt?
I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully make some friends along the way.
