Hello all. Happy Thanksgiving yesterday.
I got off of work early yesterday and had a few hours until I had to be at the Mother-in-laws to eat so I went down to the soccer field at the college I work at and tried to dig as many holes as I could. I mainly hit the side lines and around the bleachers. I filled my apron up 3 times with junk such as pull tabs, cans, batteries and etc. and made several trips to the garbage can. It started getting dark and cold so I left and went had some turkey and a drink. The first photo is an example of what was thown in the trash except for this particular pile which went home with me because I was to cold to go through it. The second photo is the interesting stuff exept for a few pieces of trash. All the coins were clad. I found a few pices of led and iron. But to me the neatest was the lead plate which I was hoping it had some writing on it but it didn't so it was neat up until I cleaned it up and the piece of copper on the bottom left side of the picture. It had a woven design. and about 1"x2" Not sure what it is but it's better than nails and bottle caps.
Anyway, I hope everyone had a great holiday.

Yep, a new set of dirty balls. :o I'm not sure what it is. It's a piece of foil and has some design on it. I figure it came of off a liquor bottle cap or something. It's been wrinkled up to much to get a good idea of what the design on it is.
Thanks for looking and making me laugh.

Congrats on those finds, Possum. Do you ever go to Trussville and hunt the parks? With all the people living there, I'd imagine that there would be LOTS of great stuff to be found there....providing there isn't a regular. :P

Hello Nana,
I spent about 1 hour with my detector at the Mason Lodge in Trussville and found about $2 in clad, pieces to a old cap gun, nails, cans, and pull tabs. I plan on going back because it was the site of a barn at one time and adjacent to the property was a train depot but most of it is covered up by the road. I have a friend who owns property where a old prison camp used to be in Trussville and in his back yard is the water well where the prisoners used to get their water from and he has given me permission to hunt that area as well as the rest of his property but I haven't had time. I spent a few hours on 40 acres today below Pell City at a old home site and as soon as get a minute I'm going to do a post about it but I have permission to go to several more spots but not enough time. I've got to hook up with some folks because there's to much for me to do by myself but the problem with that is I work every weekend and most of the time I can't get out until after 5:30 pm or so during the week. I do get the occasional off day but it's spur of the moment offdays for now.
