Hi everyone,i went to place called Comet hill and there where at one time 23 deep lead gold mines on this hill and about 6 miners cottages and a powder magazine.Due too poor storage of explosives, there was a large blast on the side of Comet Hill on the 15 September 1928.By this time no-one lived on the hill and only 2 mines operated.I don,t no how much explosives where stored at this site ,but the local paper records not one building or mine equipment was left standing.No-one was hurt in the blast ,this did end all activity on the hill.there a pic of finds and the whole site.

I've always thought about digging up the old dynamite plants in this area that had exploded over the years. But at the same time I figured any item would be blasted into small peices. I read an old time news article about all they found from one person was a finger. They identified it by the wedding ring on it.

Interesting site for sure tinpan.

There could be some good stuff there. The finds you got made it worthwhile.

Keep us all posted.
