I never noticed it as a swimmer, but since I've started detecting the beach, I have noticed that it CHANGES. I've been in a spot that has been pretty bleak and then all of a sudden in the last 3 days I've taken approx. $50 in coins (Australian-we have $1 and $2 dollar coins here), 3 silver rings, a silver charm, silver necklace, and 3 gold rings one being a mens diamond.
Today was bizarre. The last couple of days I've been pulling out lots of coins, but today, very few coins, but 2 silver rings, a silver necklace, and about 15 (not real nice) earings and lots of "pieces" of various jewlery itesm. Where were they yesterday? I was in the exact same spot.
The sand changes A LOT in a very short period of time. I am absolutly amazed. The beach is a big place and although I have only been detecting it for about a month, I can see that learning its secrets is paramount to being a successful hunter.
I grew up in Iowa where I hunted pheasants. I guess this is the same, but different.
Since we moved to Australia just a few weeks ago, I have just fallen in love with detecting the beach. I find some really cool stuff, valuable and not so valuable, but cool non-the-less, I almost always find enough change to pay for the gas and get breakfast, and my fingernails end up cleaner than when I started. (Something that never happened in the parks in the midwest.)
The picture is the gold and silver that I have found in the last 3 days.
