For a friend...A So Cal "bro"......... in surfer talk!
I wish I was 16 or so during this time........

I graduated HS in '64. I'm so thankful that I hit the sweet spot, timing-wise, with the music in that era. I know that every generation tends to embrace its own music and ignore most of what preceded them (I did too), but have you noticed how much attention has constantly been given to the Golden Decade, mid-60s to mid-70s? That was the creative period from which most later blues/rock/pop artists have borrowed/copied/emulated for the past 40 years. The copy-style stuff is probably technically more refined and maybe dark-edgy in obscure ways, but the source material still carries the emotions and panache that mirrored the culture of those days. Those were heady days and you can feel it in the music. Today's culture? You just can't put the genie back into the bottle.

Saw them in concert twice, fantastic music. Got into lots of things later, but these guys started my love of music. Thanks guys for some great memories. Just a little old rhythm player from Austin...
