Greetings fellow Treasure Netters. Hope you all had a good weekend.
For the past few days I have been hunting a bean field where a house was in 1870.
Today was the best day as I found the key date indian head and the two cent piece.
The token is about a card game . The eagle button fell apart when I picked it up.
The other button is a mid 19th century sporting button. [Thanks to PBK for IDing it]
I found the Mercury dime on Wednesday while hunting a Deerfield park.
[out of town on buisiness]
Thanks for looking and best luck. Merf

Awesome 1870 Indian cent Merf! The 1870 2 cent piece is a semi-key too. I think the mintage is under 1 million if i remember right. Ill have to check the books. Way to go my fellow Illini. HH

Thanks Coinman---I had a lucky day today. Best luck

Excellent finds in great condition! By the way, I use a 26" garden shovel when I'm hunting. Real easy to handle and I don't even have to put the machine down to retrieve a target. With the shovel in my left hand and using my left foot, I cut a circular plug and then lift the spade of the shovel with the plug in it with my right foot.

Those are some sweeeeeeeeeeeet coins, and the button ain't to bad either

Awesome finds, congrats! HH, Mike

Great digs Merf!!! I can't believe the detail on those coins, they are spectacular!!! I found an 1870 this year also but not nearly the detail of yours.I've only found 3 two centers in my 26 yr. career and I must say yours blows all of mine out of the water! Hope to see alot more come from that field to your hands!!Congrats again, Bootstrap
This is the really ugly one I found this spring, lucky for you yours doesn't look like this!

Thanks Bookfisher-----I have one of those garden shovels too but for the deeper digs I find the long shovel faster and easier.

Thanks Goldencoin and Mike

Thanks Vinn-----I too am surprised as to what good condition it is in for a field coin.
Must depend on what kind of fertilizer they use.
Here is an 1865 I found last year-----Not near as nice. Best luck

Thanks Oddcoins and Silverfreak
