My ExII arrived today via UPS. This has to be the easiest to assemble detector I've ever bought.
First impression was "yep, this is Minelab quality alright." Minelabs are of such high quality that they make other brands look like they came from a CrackerJack box. Everything is pure quality.
I only had time today to put her together and turn it on for about 3 minutes then had to get back to work. At this time I don't even know how to set the thing. But she sure hit hard in the air tests.
I read somewhere where somebody claimed their Explorer only air tested about 6 inches on a quarter. Well, mine must have eaten its Wheaties for breakfast because it reached way out there.
I like it already and haven't even gotten outside yet. Next week they say the snow will melt and I'll try it then.
I plan to bench test it and learn the general settings but probably before next hunting season I'll move up to the SE. Not because it's better, but for vanity reasons. Most of my buds use the SE so pride is getting the better of logic.
But for now I say that Explorer II is a quality built machine and I like the air tests. I didn't do a precise air distance measurement but it seems excellent. We know the air thing doesn't count all that much anyway.
Thanks for readin.
