So I figured it was time to post this.......
A few days ago, I went to check out a new spot. it's a resort that dates back to the early 1900s, and I figured it had to be good. After my first few digs, I was about to change my mind, and then I hit a distinctively "wheaty" signal. Well, I figured, where there's wheat......
The cool thing was, I kept getting those hits, every few feet, and somtimes 3-4 at once. I am used to old homesites, so my best day previous to this has been 9 wheats, and 3 silver. The amount of wheat I was digging was truly remarkable(almost icebergy
), and then it happened, MERC !! In the last 5 weeks, I have gotten 1 rosie, and 1 barber dime, so getting all those pennies, and then silver, I knew there had to be more. I managed to hit a rosie(amid all the "grain"), and then picked up another wheat, and a silver wash. all I was thinking is that it couldn't get better. It didn't get much better, but it sure the heck didn't get worse !! To make a long story short......
I am thinking this is probably a virgin site, we (my partner and I) only covered a very small part of the lawn, and we have yet to hit the picnic area, or the "campfire ring".
All told I ended up with a 1936 canadian, an 1881 IH, 58 wheats, and 14 silbers. We are going back later today.......
