great posts thanks wonder why these were never developed appears like the rest it never happened i guess people get excited because of carvings with out finding silver and go off deep end just a thought
 
The Stewart article is interesting, it's as good an explanation as any. I assume when the Dr was takin 1 dollar and making 3 dollars he was adding lead.
 
The original post article needs further thought. Since Beattyville is at the forks of the KY river, and that is where Col. Harrod was going to look for Swift's mine...could the skull found in the cavern been his? Also, silver from lead mining can cause illness and/or death during smelting.
 
I want to keep reminding everyone that some ores that contain silver also contain cadmium and when breathed will kill you...please be careful!
