Jeff of PA, interesting article that points out how gold affects a persons sense of reality (the buckets on the wagon were actually Brown), no wonder why nobody has found the right place. But then again, I am a member of this blog!..................63bkpkr

In 1888 C. A. Sweek (an early Oregon pioneer) who ended up in Corvallis Oregon did extensive research by interviewing Mrs Henry Buxton (a member of the original wagon train that took Meeks Cutoff in 1885....(Known as the Blue Bucket Wagon Train). His detailed report was done after he tracked the exact passage. His detailed examination and notes is published in the book titled "Voices of the Oregon Territory"....Conversations with Bullwhackers Muleskinners, Pioneers, Prospectors, 49ers...etc etc." by Fred Lockley...pages 279-281. The book is available on Amazon. A great read!
