The custom program i put in my DFX is working fantastic !!! i keep hitting the smallest pieces of iron and even copper rivets at 10 inches deep so i do have a chance at hitting a good find plus all the rain helps it seems when the soil is moist deep it works much better once the heavy grass rooted clump is flipped over you can dig by hand the dirt is soft its mixed with a lot of sand the field has not been farmed for many many years but i guess when it was the ferts did there damage on the coppers that ashame but it should not of damaged the silver i hope .Dd60

whatever your'e doing with the dfx, it seems to be working great for you. dig everything that's not iron, and you'll get some pleasant surprises.

I vary my approach depending on lots of factors (including time & amount of Iron), but the end result of years of searching a field will be every nail will be cleared (if its a good field). For example, you can go & cherry pick all the good stuff to begin with, & then start clearing the iron. Up to you & your hunting style :icon_thumright:

Iam using a mixed mode its great i can cherry pick with my ears but those sounds can fool you sometimes especially when a good target is next to iron a slow sweep speed on my program takes care of that this field is strange i can go 15 minutes without a signal then BANG !! theres a good one . Thanks Dd60

if they are expected to disappe ar the bad herbs and detects inch by inch across (and around forest) will provide the best collector of U.S. colonial findings.
Congratulations!

I've been following your story on this field. I think it is great! I can wait to see your finds. You know there has to be some real treasures down there.

good luck and HH

This is where the XP excels, it has the fastest (I think) recovery of any machine, I don't need to do slow sweeps, it will pick out silver surround by nails. I can sometimes pick out 3 signals in the same hole & guess, 1 is a silver coin, 1 is a button & 1 is a chuck of lead - & be pretty much right. But the only way to be sure as you are pointing to is to clear it. Many iffy signals turn out to be the best finds. No VDU on this unit, trust your ears :icon_thumright:

That place will produce some great finds. Cant wait to see what you pull out of there.
