My 9 day vacation has started. I stopped by one of the farms today and lo and behold, an area to detect on! What's this, a section that wasn't cut last year that is open now?

Off I went, with the 13" coil, but it was very trashy. Luckily I had the X5 with me. The little coil was the star today, producing most of the finds amongst the junk.

*** This one I'll need your help with, guys. Thank god I know Greek! It sent me on the right path. I recognized the Greek word "Ariston". From what I understand, it was possibly minted in Glastonbury around 1812. One reference called it "The Waterville Penny", because one was found three feet down, when building a road in Waterville, Me. They thought it was minted in the 1600's or something, but they are wrong according to this. Mastodon? IP?

very worthy finds, a lot of history, very cool and awesome

Nice finds man! I'm no pro with muskets but that looks like a brown bess trigger guard to me. The buckle appears to be a neck stock buckle....probably late 1700's early 1800's

That's a great hunt. I think it's a suspender buckle and a nice one too.

Quite confident it's a neck stock buckle.

I don't know what it is, but I want one! Those are some super finds, Gio. Congrats to you.

Congrats on a kick A** hunt!

Wow, beyond cool finds there. Congrats on an awesome hunt.

Wow Gio, great finds as always. I can't wait to learn about the "Ariston" coin, sure is in good shape for an old copper.

I can't help with the IDs, but you have a great looking collection of relics right there.... congrats! Hope the site continues to produce. :)

That was a really good hunt for this time of year or any time of year as far as that goes Greek ! I grew up in the Waterville area and had not heard of the WTVL Penny and had never seen that token before ! Nice history lesson ! Is the reverse on the Stiver a Pure copper Preferable to paper variety ?? That is the only variety I have found ! MaineRelic

Great start into the field hunting season! Congrats!
