🥇 Banner finds

Detector(s) used
Equinox 600, Bandido UMax II, Fisher F5, Tiger Shark, Ace 250
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Hi all! Went to one of my hunting spots for a little enjoyment of our favorite hobby. A misty fog was hanging over the river like a blanket in the early morn. This was usual because of the coldness of the water and believe me you knew it recovering your first target. I was getting the norm, small pieces of foil, the wings of pull tabs, balls of aluminum and can tops. I was using my Tesoro Bandido U Max II with discrimination set at 2. Of course every sound is sought after until found. There are outcroppings of rocks in the river that act as catch areas for "goodies". As I was making my way through the course of rocks I find many a treasure just by "eyeballing". Knives, sunglasses, cameras, watches, GoPros and even rings on occasion. Any area where I can put the coil in between the rocks, even at an angle I do. I got a good strong signal at one these spots and started to dig. The water was already a foot deep and by the time I got the target another foot through gravel, rock and sand. I didn't think much of it at first just another watch. It appeared like one of those cheap Wally watches for young girls with a circle of diamonds around the dial. My vision is poor up close like anyone else my age and I need reading glasses. "Just another watch" and put it in my junk side of my bag. I continued on for 2 more hours with not much more to show for my efforts except some sunglasses. I returned to the car and started to unload and take off my gear. My glasses were laying in the console so I put them on and pulled the watch out. Rolex stood out right away with the familiar crown above. I thinking, "No way!" I looked it over closer, oyster perpetual, Rolex all over the band! I couldn't contain myself started doing the happy dance with a few fist jabs for never giving up! I've always thought that one of these days I was gonna find something good!
I took it to a reputable diamond and watch dealer here in my area. Although there was some damaged due to the length of time in the drink I had all repairs done then a certified appraisal.
Appraisal Value: $9,500
Over 3.5 total carrot wt
Diamond color: H
Clarity: VSI

My wife and I are still not sure if we will sell or keep it. Of course you know what she wants to do! Lol! It does fit her perfect!

Thanks everyone for looking and I hope you make your find of a lifetime!

I always wondered what those smaller Rivers in N Ga E Tn , W NC , hold with all those rafters , Kayak, Swimmers Using the river in the Summer , Esp, after I took a Trip Down 2 years ago, (other than listening to the Guide say witch side to paddle , I was thinking about treasure.).

I run a Tejon in mostly non trashy areas so I know the tiny pieces on foil ,etc those machines can pick up with the Discrimination set so low.

Also Surprised the Rangers don't give you any spit, they should not all the trash you get out.

Awesome Banner Find , heck the Eyeball finds are cool to esp, when they are Designer Sun Glasses & Water proof Cameras.

I might come up & explore sometime. LOL

Only if it was reported stolen...you cant just get the owners name...and even if you could, what if the original owner sold it? You would have the name of the original owner not the person that lost it.
That's what I ran into when I found my Rolex. I called Rolex USA, which I believe is in New Jersey, They told me that they have a database for reported lost/stolen Rolexes but that they wouldn't do anything over the phone. I had to mail it to them and then they'd research it and let me know. Yeah, like I'm going to do that! I ran FOUND ads for some time but didn't get any response.

I have been watching your thread since you found the sweet lady.
Congratulations on the Banner find!

Congrats on a great find and better give it to "ma" to keep the peace. You can always cash it in later if you need it. HH....

Wow, now that's a find! Got all the jealous armchair experts to running too! lol

"What's the coolest thing you've ever found?"

A $10,000 rolex. SNAP! Who's the nerd now?

I think some of you folks need to get off the back of the OP, he went out of his way to authenticate the watch. If he doesn't choose to try and return it, that is his business.
I wouldn't even think of trying to return it.

I believe your last statement.

Do you try to return every coin, ring, etc.. that you find?

If I can yes, and many here do.

The whole purpose of metal detecting is to find stuff. He found a treasure worth a lot of money. Kudos to him...

To the OP, ignore all the comments about it being a fake or condemning you for not spending your time or money to try and return it. You found it, it's yours, enjoy it.

I'm note sure that checking the serial number with Rolex would have required much time or money spent on the OP's part.

to the rest. just tell them to foad.

Well I think that speaks volumes! :laughing7:

Detectahead has another post on here where he said he got it certified appraised at $9,500 and the diamonds are real...so what do all of you calling it an obvious fake have to say now?...its obviously real.

I deleted my post due to these facts...
It is an older CUSTOM Rolex which threw me...
The older well used Rolexes have the slack in bands etc.

When the "look" is off or wrong to the norm... this is the first sign of a fake.
Since the stones have checked out and dating is in early 80's...
AND the fact this is not a "stock" Rolex would throw anyone off that is looking at a PICTURE... of a watch.

Next time...
Hand it to me.

Again Congrats DetectorHead.

PS> Oh and to the PM on my deletion of my post... I delete posts that aid in any confusion within a thread as to the conversation at hand...
IF... in this case I have made an error in judgment in the item in question or have made a bold "denial" of others claims... then I delete it as a form of "withdraw".

Yes I do actually. Some may take longer than others. I guess its a personal decision for each of us.That's just the way I was raised .I cant even come close to enjoying the object as much as the person who lost it and thinks they will never see it again. I've have seen tears roll off several peoples faces upon getting the item back
Aarc glad you do admit when you are wrong although I know its rare that you are

Not sure how I missed this thread before and didn't pick up on it till it was up top . But congratulations on a find most of us will only ever dream about

Just curious...how many coins have you been able to return?

You cant check the serial number with Rolex.

Just saw that you got the BANNER! Congratz!!! I imagine the banner fails in comparison to the watch tho!!!

Great find, cleaned up nicely. My Wife & I have matching Rolexes. I have had mine for
30 years, no problems ... except me breaking the crystal.

Rolex keeps track of the #'s not the person

Just curious...how many coins have you been able to return?

Exactly $3 in quarters that was in a wallet. Thought it wasn't possible?
Rolex keeps track of the #'s not the person
