I found this a few days ago in a hay field where a homestead once stood. It is the 1st cent issued by what was then the provice of Canada. Bear in mind this is 9 years before Confederation. There were only 421,000 copies of this first issue large cent. The 1859 issue was 10,000,000 pieces. This is the rarest Canadian non-variant cent circulated. It would obviously not grade too high as it has been in the ground for many years but it is in better condition than the coins I usually find of this vintage. The soil conditions in my area usually leave only a copper disc with little or no detail. Thanks for looking!
