here is a short video that my sister in law tamawastewin ladonna allard does
this talks about how the french canadian explorers and traders married the lakota sioux
the famous missouri river bridge here in bismarck is named after grant marsh who had 27 children on the standing rock reservation in north and south dakota
ladonna is director of tourism at standing rock
this is where chief sitting bull rests....just sayin'

Lakota.....my blood, does not forget. Neither shall my soul conflict. I have reconciliation between me, and myself. Remember your sons and
daughters that went to the west.

yes charbonneau, decoteau, pouirer(my sister in law) peltier,

for example joel, there are more poitra's and gorneau's in ND than in all the other states combined

Choteau and Menard over here....more Montana area.....

I've got some Peltiers a few miles from me too.

Choteau and Menard over here....more Montana area.....
Chouteau's down here in Osage County Oklahoma too.....the Osage were Siouan-speaking tribe, traded & married with the French.
My husband works with a man who's last name is Chouteau(Choteau).
Neat video Larson! Thanks for posting...I love history lessons like this.

The Choteaus and Menards are family, with great back stories...descendants married into Blackfeet tribe, part of the original 1853 treaty party....
