Iron Bros out on a reunion tour is one way of putting it!
Out digging with Iron Patch on a site we haven't visited in many years. The farmer remembered us from years before, he recently came across an old coin I gave him from our initial trip there so long ago!
Back on the site we started finding what was missed before.
Interesting finds included a two piece militia button, a grenadiers cap badge, an a really gilt two piece fouled anchor button! Also, one of the coolest crotal bells I've ever seen.
On our next site we visited our great old militia site. The adjacent bean field was cut down and in it I found a little patch that gave up my first intact sling buckle and super gilt, minty really, militia button!
This awesome button is from our first local militia in the 1790s! Raised to defend against the threat from the "Americans " who they were at war with not so long ago.
I know that many would not see or understand fully the significance of such a thing but for us it's a find that takes us back to ones who made where we live the place it is today!
So, it has a special meaning and it's awesome to boot!
Looking forward to doing it all again soon!

You knocked it out, very nice finds, congratulations!

Astonishing finds, those places around you sure give up some incredible relics. It is nice you gave the owner something previously, I enjoy that. Great saves!!

I was fortunate to have a pure relic day, I'm sure there'll be another
the gesture wasn't lost on the farmer, giving back has rewards

I really like finding something new and different things and these finds are all those things and more!
thanks again Gary

Wow that crotal bell is something else! I've found 2 varieties this year, but they pale in comparison to your find. Great hunt, congrats!!

Now that's a great hunt. That crotal bell is great with all that engraving.

I'm not sure what I like the most the gold gilt buttons or the early crotal bell. Great hunt you had in the field sites once again.
The bell is probably easily dates to the 18th century for sure.

I've found dozens over the years, lots of different ones too, I enjoy finding them

Awesome time capsule of relics from that sight. Such a rewarding feeling recovering so many old artifacts long lost in the dirt. You have enough from this one hunt to stuff into a nice display. Well done!:headbang:

Have you had a St John Button before? I can only assume its pretty rare.:occasion14:

Yes on both counts
same site (i have others)and probably only a single issue no doubt

basically a group of loyalist former soldiers looking to get back in action and defend their land
