The going is slow in more ways than one. I have only gotten about 100 feet in the wooded area that I started because there are so many signals in the soil I am working. The ground is still hard. I try to predict what I think is below and how deep. My accuracy is getting better. All in all I am getting there. I found several coins and all this. What may I ask is the big round thing? Its cast and weighs about 6 lbs. The rest is OK except the electronic gizmo.

Looks like you're getting the hang of it!

Hello Shoague,

You are starting to learn the machine! Do not worry, we all dig many unwanted items, that's the "nature of the beast".

I find the hunt very relaxing and enjoy every minute in the field. Good Luck in 2015!

Regards,

Thanks, I did find a small band at the beach. I think its junk. Fits on my pinkie

The big thing looks kinda like part of an iron cooking pot or pan, maybe.
Nice collection of finds!

Sometimes the more iron and junk you clean out of a spot puts you closer to the goodies hiding under it!

I had trouble with the nails because the came in as a high iron with a double sound. I found another one with the same double tone and figured it was something long. It was another bent nail. So I am paying close attention to the sounds as well as the meters. ACE350

Frying pan remnant, I'd guess. My "secret" area is hard going to, bro. Was once a main route into town,,,then bypassed for another better approach. Then decades of dumping, now road is closed off but accessible by foot. Great times in there, solitude and jillions of targets, (but mostly iron),,,,ha !

I thought it was part of a frying pan or cast pot but I am not sure what the steel strap welded to the edge was used for. Maybe part of a farm tractor? Wheel or Brake or Transmission Housing?
