It is generally agreed that searching the first sandbar is a waste of time due to the soft sand. Any comments about searching the second deeper trough, possibly with diving gear?

Too deep and too rough on the section of coast I hunted. I spent considerable time experimenting in those areas during the summer months during those extreme low tide periods but there's just too much deep fluffy sand. No doubt there's a lot of goodies out there but getting at them on that section of coast just wasn't possible. In the summer there's just too much sand and in the winter there's just too much current and too much wave surge.

I was detecting at mid tide and fell into the first trough. THAT was a suprise lol, couldn't even see it through the water.

I usually get in the trough and make a few sweeps and promptly get knocked on my a$$.
