The Great Smoky Rocky Mountians

This last week I made a one night trip over to see some folks who mine in the San Juan mountains. I got to Montrose late for the night via I70 and down from Grand Junction. The smoke from all the fires across the west from California and Oregon and other places in between has settled in a thick inversion in the Grand Valley of western Colorado and created some pretty ominous looking skies at sunset with an apocalyptic looking end of day. High in the mountains the smoke did thin out, but what I saw on the way home I could say the whole state is consumed in a layer of smoke.

That description really stirred my imagination. I felt like I was there. Kind of a reality check for what's going on out west. They are cool photos.

I was listening to the radio and they we're talking with a 30 veteran firefighter and he was saying he's seeing the size forrest fires like never before in recent years, plus the fire seasons are going longer each year.

It has gone full circle. CA told us to Save A Tree, use plastic. Now, they tell us to keep the plastic out of the land fills and use paper. If the west coast would take a hint from FL and other states and do controlled burns, maybe the fires wouldn't be so bad. Just saying. ╦╦Ç

True, but that's because the tell-all's of California, haven't figured out yet there's really no solution to all the problems they insist be solved out there. It's well becoming the norm out here in Colorado to. Kinda brings Matthew 23:24 to my mind about those who deem themselves the ones to guide us all.

Thanks OD. Yeah you'd think all this smoke blocking the sun would cool things down like a cloud does, but that ain't the case as it actually heats things up. Pretty warm down here to and even high up where I was seemed a be warmer than what's normal at that altitude.
