''The'' Hill...

The hill is an area with a few mixed items, I then moved to a nearby 'short walk' field.

I spent 6.5 hours & Dad joined me for about 45 minutes getting 1 more scrappy to the count.

5 Scrappies
2 17th C Buttons
1939 Sixpence
Other half of the Tudor Buckle (large one)
Tudor Gilt Stud
Frag of Bronze Age Axe Head8-)
Wrist Clasp
2 Saxon Brooches - 6th C (broken)
Bits....

Another great day in the fields....

love your posts, I am either wondering what it is or drooling over the finds

Great assortment of artifacts covering a very wide span of history. Always love to see what you can pull out of the ground over there.

Nice digs on the axe head and the brooches, great variety from the site.

Beautiful stuff as always cru. Wished i would have been metal detecting when i was stationed across the pond....HH. Joe

Good job on the axe head and the brooches! :icon_thumleft:

Looks like some sort of artillery button, and looks early for our side of the pond.

I like the gold gilt item, too bad the bell broke, I find a few, but only one with a makers mark.

Congrats on the finds! I really like the axe head fragment. What are the odds of finding the rest of it? Do you ever recover multiple pieces of the same find over time?

Yes, it happens sometimes. The big buckle pictured was in 2 pieces. (1 found 1 day & the other the next time)

Me to, unsure on age but its a tack type object but the pin is bent like it went on leather. I'm guessing its 1600s.
