Well I just got back from the spot. Goio and I tried our luck and came up with more deepies!!! It came at a cost though, at any given time their was 50 flies on each of us, and man were they hungry!!! I never seen anything like it in my life!!!! Today was my second day out with my Minelab Explorer Pro, this is what I found:

1900 IH
1904 IH
1909 Wheatie (Goio's Help)
1910
1918 S
1919
1920 D
1947 D (Goio's Help)

The 1918s & the 1919 were in the same hole, that was cool to find. Below the 1904 IH was that piece of metal that is stamped "950", anybody have any ideas on what it is? I also found a butterfly pendant, but its not gold or silver. But all of my finds (minus the clad quarter) were down 6 inches or more. I also have a pouch full of the usual garbage, (square nails & pull tabs), we were only digging iffy signals though. The 1900 IH is now my oldest coin that I have found, I want to breakinto the 1800's so bad!!! I'm catching on pretty quick, I already love my new Minelab!!!

Awesome digs TF! That butterfly pendant is nice+! Maybe older than any of the coins there. I've dug lots of butterfly, bee and other themed old costume jewelry in street work and yards before and the periods are surprisingly old for some of it.

The Guru (Goio) has done his magic and your pre-1900 barrier is going down soon!

It was funny, the very first signal that Goio got was that Barber Dime!!!! Great job on all of your great coins bud!!! No I just have to get me some silver and a V-Nickel... :icon_pirat:

I thought that the butterfly was going to be an IH, the way it was bouncing around. It was deep, so it could be older than the coins...

Today me and Goio went out for a hunt, we were checking out new spots - but the finds are few and far between not to mention that it felt like 100+ degrees outside. My IH was so worn & corroded that we couldn't tell what date it was. When I got home I cleaned off some of the buildup that was on it. The date is barely readable, I had to put some water on it so that it would collect in the faint crevasses of the coin. But to my supprise it is an 1894 - so this is now my oldest coin that I dug!!!! She is ugly, but I'll take her home... I also had a pouch full of pulltabs, rusty nails, & just flatout junk, but nobody wants to see all of that garbage.
Again I have to give props to Goio for all of his help, thanks bud.

This is what I went home with:

I hope you all had a chance to get out and do some treasure hunting. :icon_pirat:

TF,

Congratulations, you finally broke into the 19th century! I know that was a goal you had set for yourself earlier. It may not be in the best shape but it's nice regardless. Also, all of those early wheats are great. It's nice when you're not just pulling 1956's! lol. You'll pull silver out of there in no time, I gaurentee. We gotta get together again soon.

Joe

I went to the spot for 3 hours today. Since it rained yesterday that made it almost impossible to be able to differentiate coin signals from iron ones. I did manage to get 2 Wheaties / 1919 + 1936. I saved the trash to show people that we don't always just find coins, we have to dig a lot of trash just to get a few coins. Its not much, but I just hit the 50 Wheat Cents found today with the 1919!!!

I hope everybody gets a chance to go and detect!!!

50 wheaties and some milk, you got breakfast! Nice digs! That old iron can lead the way sometimes. I popped a big carriage bolt out of the ground at 4" once because it's signal was just too large and I thought it might be masking something. A nice barber quarter was an inch below it.

Yep, silver drought is on, can't break it until this weekend though.

Same here, I have not had my share of silver this last week. I am hoping to bring home at least one today. :icon_pirat:

Yea the gates were closed, I parked in the parking lot by the building and walked over. It was cool -
with all of those storms, it knocked down all kinds of big branched and a few trees.

Here is my latest find from the spot, before the incident. It was funny, I asked Goio to check this target to see if it was something good (I was finding nothing but nails). He said yea it sounds good to me, so he started digin. Well it was good - it was, is was a 1920 merc!!!! That was the end of my 71 day silver coin drought + my oldest silver coin do date!!!! The funny thing is that I didn't even have to dig for it, Goio did all the work for me - LOL
