"THE LAST FOOTSTEPS OF CONSTABLE THOMAS RYAN" 1886

January 6 1886 a local gold trooper went too the local chiness mining camp and was never seen again. On the morning of the 6th, Constable Thomas Ryan went to the Sydenham Gardens Hotel [taven] to take in the weekly pigeon shoot. This event was held by the Sandhurst gun club. This event was held at this location every Wednesday from 1863-1925.just got to wonder how you could shoot staight while drink large amounts of beer. :P :P :P.Later that day Constable Thomas Ryan was never seen again.

Yesterday i went to the site where the hotel once stood and spent about 7 hours working the rear of the site. The first pic is of the hotel taken about 1890.

Found a lot of stuff and only have had time to clean some of the relic and coins.

Well done Tinpan - some really nice finds there. Love the tokens and silver, I am yet to break the 1800s silver drought but its out there waiting....silently......like that killer kangaroo they discovered down your way.....
