The Mighty Tesoro Pulls Through Today- Silver, IH, & Relics!!!

I had a pretty good day today. Not only was it a bit cooler here, but I found a few old coins too with my Mighty Tesoro.
Ridley and I hit the spots pictured. Both properties were in the old downtown section. One was an old house, and the other was a freshly cleared lot that used to have the oldest house in town on it.
My finds were:
*An 1898 IH - Yeah, Baby!!!
*A 1943 Silver Quarter
*Wheats- 1948 , 1951, 1952D.
*Youngsville Centennial pin (1875-1975)
*Asst's glass & jug piece.
*Relics- Coty lipstick case, old spoons, lock, toy gun, etc.

We hit this cleared lot pretty good, but will probably return once we get some rain.
Thanks for looking,
MM

(Mirage- Can I stay on TN now? ;D )

You guys have some good sites to hunt! Nice pics!

By the way, Modern, do you wear headphones?

HH!

Kirk

Kirk,
My ears are finely tuned to my Tesoro, so I don't use the headphones. ;D
Actually, when it's hot here I detect without them. In the colder months I will go back to using them again. Most of the places I hunt are very quiet, so I can usually hear a mouse fart from 50 yards away. The only noise distraction I get is when Ridley screams "WILVER"!!! ;D
Have a great week Dudester.

Also if you are as skilled as us you can feel the vibration even with no sound.

Crusader,
Very true. ;D When you use a basic model detector like I do, you have to use whatever you can. ;)

I always use headphones, but it is my preference. I would miss a lot of sigs if I didn't have them. Plus, it is all private. Just my 2-cent piece worth of advice.

Nice Injun!

Kirk,
Is that " 2 cents" worth of IH, wheats, or memorials? ;D
I see you changed your avatar too. You are one sexy guy. ;)

Nice finds MM and great pics! You and Ridley seem to have a great time detecting. HH, Mike

Re: The Mighty Tesoro Pulls Through Today- Silver, IH, & Relics!!!

Those Silver uMax detectors rock! I say it's one of the greatest machines made today. In fact, it always has been since the earliest Silver Sabre days.

I have a uMax coming next week and I already have an original Silver Sabre. I wouldn't take $500 for that original Sabre if I couldn't buy another to replace it. I suspect the uMax will also be great.

Ever try a 12x10 coil on your uMax? I put one on my old Sabre and I believe it's deeper than my Tejon.

Great post and luv the finds!

Congrats,

Badger

That is a good hunt. Good friends!
Like to know what stone is in that brooch.

I'm still learning my tesoro silver max. Any advise?

Thanks Badger. I agree. I think the Silver Umax is VERY under rated. I used to own a Tesoro Cutlass Umax, until I bought the Silver Umax. Both were/are fantastic machines. They may be basic and not have all the fancy bells and whistles, but they DO find the goods. I have been very pleased with this detector, and all of the coins, relics, and jewelry it has found. I added the 9x8 DD coil a while back, and now I'm digging targets 8"10" easy. Ridley can vouch for this machine too. He's seen it in action. I would recommend one of these Silver Umax machines to anyone. Very easy to use, and you get to know the good-vs- bad signal sounds in no time.

Thanks tymcmurray.
The brooch has no stone. It is a solid metal piece. I actually found it buried about 6" deep next to a very large oak tree.
As far as the Silver Umax, you will be very pleased with your choice. As far as advice, I know you hear it all the time, but practice, practice, practice is true in this case. I think I've owned this machine for about 4-5 months now. I have been fortunate to be able to MD at a farm by my work during lunches and after work. This farm has turned up sooooooo many different kinds of metals and targets, that I have really learned what to dig by sound. I've found toys, coins (clad, silver, copper), gold and silver jewelry, old buttons, and a boat load of old farm plow pieces and square head nails.
Lately I've been on a coin finding kick, and have been discriminating out everything below "tabs". This has done very well for me too.
Although the stock coil will do great, you may want to switch to a 9x8 or 12x10 DD coil for even deeper targets.
The two Tesoro machines I have owned are fantastic at finding relics. I have a lot of CW bullets and old button to prove it.
Good luck to you. Looking forward to seeing what you find with it.

Thanks Bob. I'm glad I can stay. I don't think I would have been able to go on just watching from the sidelines. ;D I promise, no more hubcap posts. ;)
Have a great week,
