MEXICAN DIAMOND MINES.
The legendary diamond mines in\the State of Guerrero. Mexico, which, ever since the days of Emperor Iturbide, have been sought for by the curious, are again the subject of animated discussion. Sc says the Reuters correspondent at Mexico City. A well-known Mexican geologist recently returned from a tour of exploration of the State.
and, according to the newspapers, asserted he had found the lost mines. Exploring parties are now said to be In the process of organization. General Guerroro, after whom the State was named, is believed to have discovered the diamonds more than 100 years ago, below.
and to have presented the Emperor Iturbide who died in 1824 with numerous gems of immense value.
The general died in 1831, however, without disclosing the treasure. The wild regions of the sparsely populated State have from time to time been explored in an effort to find the mines.
