as if we couldn't figger out that one. local paper the fla times union said that today oddessey had to give up the vessels name by court order -- the exact location however --hah -- no way

so expect spain to play the soverign immunity card -- if spain wins and they do not award a fair share to oddessey for the salvage work for recovering the booty --- I say take the dangsilver back to "spain" via ship and while on the way stop and dump it right back exactly in the area where it came from --- then if spain really wants it, let them fetch it up from the bottom of the ocean

Im wondering how much of this treasure spain pillaged and looted from the country of origin. Im wondering how much slave labor could have been used in its original retreival.

Spain should have ZERO claim to any of this treasure. The courts in the here in the dandy ole USA shouldnt even have allowed the case to be presented.

I have not read/seen what you are talking about but understand exactly! Spain comes to what is now America in the 1500s, enslaves the Indians, rapes, pillages and burns whatever they want to and capitalize on it. Now 500 years later, we are to hand over what they lost in their rampage because we find it and they have not done nothing to retrieve their lost treasure? Stupid Americans being stupid or idiotic. To me the answer is simple. the finders should be given a good reward and the the treasure should be returned to the country of origin. Spain should then be given the location of the wreck.Living in the UK I've not heard of this matter before, where was the wreck found and what was it carrying ?.

Let's see Spain steals it from the Incans and then looses their ship of stolen riches in waters not in their jurisdiction. For 500 years they don't try to recover it, yet when an enterprising company spends money and uses their own resources to locate and salvage it, Spain decides it wants it back. What is this world coming to. Also how could anyone have jurisdiction over what is to happen to this loot when it was found outside any teritorial waters. The US has the right to tax the company for income purposes because it is an American company, but how could they have the authority over what is to be done with what was found outside their waters. I can't see how Spain has the right to make a claim on it for the same reason. The country of origin is the only entity I could see that would have grounds for such a suit. If Spain gets the loot, the country of origin should sue for reparations. Spains atrocities toward the tribal people of early middle America led to the fall of an important civilization and probably set those countries back in their evoloution enough that the problems they are having now are a result.

Boycott Spain!!!!
