Last weeks temperatures hitting the 70's here in New York I had to get out knowing we were facing a week of rain coming in from Frankenstorm so I got out a few times and plucked out more large coppers! I was really surprised when I revisted one field where two years ago the site only revealed a large cent and a broken piece of copper spoon. No buttons or anything else, very unusual for what I find in the fields.

So with my new machine I went back and within a 20 sq ft radius from where I got my first largy 2 yrs ago I hit two more laargy's plus a Bank of Montreal Token (don't know if it's a half penny or a penny yet) plus I dug a large copper medal or token thingy. Have no idea what it is, has big bold letters on one side.

After digging them up I hit another field with only 20 minutes til sunset and hit a coronet large cent and a decent 1893 Indian Head Cent along with a croto bell.

Here's the pre-cleaning pics... Thanks for looking!

... I swear for the moment there I thought I was in Vermont or Jersey the way these coppers kept popping up :laughing7:

Very well done clean them up and put up some more pic. HH

The coin with the bold letters looks like it may be an old Russian kopek coin of some denomination....hard to tell in it's current state, but post a cleaned pic when you have a chance.

Those coppers are nice pieces of earlier American History! Any dates besides that 1851? That Indian is a higher XF too! Nice finds!

Nice day of digging there.

The Bank of Montreal piece is half penny, the full penny is quite large at 34mm

The token is a half penny, if it were a penny it would be larger than the us large cents. Nice finds.

Beautiful finds! Cant wait to see the cleaned up pictures!!

That's it! Thank you Erik, after searching the web I found it! Here's what it says:

This copper 10 kopek coin is from Russia, minted between 1830 and 1839 during the reign of Tsar Nicholas I (1825-55).

SWEET! I sure did jump the puddle on this one!
