The one that got away.

Was putting up a baby gate on the side porch over the weekend. In the midst of doing so, I had to move a bucket of junk from Deershed and I's detecting adventures. When moving the bucket I spotted what looked like piece of a pocket watch case, I sat it aside until I was done with the gate. Cleaned up the case a little with a toothbrush and some sterling silver jewelry cleaner, which seemed to do the trick. After a good cleaning I can now see what looks like two hallmarks of some kind and a small bit of the serial number. Im almost positive that it is in fact silver. But who knows? Either way, im not sure how this slipped by the both of us.

I think the angle the pic was taken gives that look. Theres a split in the center of the piece and I see no color difference in the split, all looks one color to me.
