Picture 1 is Cru'dad's scouting mission on a far away farm, we call it the Turkey Farm Site. It was a short 2.5 hour hunt & he only ended up with 2 scrappies, & bits. Plan A was to return today, but the after affect of the Severe Gales yesterday (& the tale end of the Gale today), we decided to stay close to home.
We started a little early as the rain & hail was due at lunchtime & it did hit us as predicted. The Plan B was 'The Potato Field', it's our second bite of the cherry this Winter as it's been deep ploughed.(which helped bring up the Gold in an area we gridded, as it was poking out the top!) Lucky for us the usual ankle breaker wasn't an issue, as this sandy field fell nicely & all the rain has flatten it. Way better than we expected!
3 hours 45 minutes (before we got beaten off):

1 Roman Coin
1 Jetton
1 Tudor Button
1 Livery Button
1 18th C Navy Button
Crotal Bell
18th C Clog Clasp

Medieval Buckles
Leather Mount with Leather (17th C)
10-11th C Viking Strap-End (broken, but a design I need to research):icon_thumright:
1609 James I Sixpence 8-)
CELTIC GOLD QUARTER STATER (Cru'dad's find - can't find it in my book, emailed our British Museum contact, will update):headbang: Thanks to washingtonian who stated on my last post - ''Fingers crossed you get more Celtic GOLD on your next outing!!'' (although it wasn't me.):happysmiley:
UPDATE:
(from the British Museum)
''It’s a little tricky to pin down, but I think this is a British La2 type. It looks like examples published by John Sills in his ‘Divided Kingdoms’ (2017) volume, Whaddon Cross type, p. 481 nos. 463-464, also in ABC no. 2457 (where it’s called the Whaddon Wings type) and Van Arsdell no. 1478.

We have one on the PAS I think (https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/955585 ) although I can’t find an obvious example in the BM collections (not with the staters and quarter staters of this series at least).

It would be a good one to get photographed and recorded properly!''

ABC Books describes as 'Extremely Rare'.

Thanks, although this may turn out to be an Extremely Rare coin, I'll stop everyone short on the BANNER Votes, as it was Cru'dad's find & not allowed.

As far as I understand it, if Cru'dad was a Member (which he isn't) then even me posting it on my thread would count.

Yeap I was pleased with it, as it was our target find for the day (ie. 1 hammered), it was in the wettest boggy spot in the whole field!:icon_scratch:
