These 2 finds came from the same area, the seal is lead and dates to about the 13Th century. The small bronze knight is 11Th century in style. Perhaps all those centuries he was guarding over the seal. He is holding a shield and spear and is wearing an 11Th century helmet with nose guard. Time for a few beers now, have a nice night/day.

Holy moly - the finds are awesome...

I always drool over the English diggins.

Well done!! :)

to be able to MD with so much history around you is simply breathtaking! I love finding something 100yrs old, & you find 1000 yr old pieces! what a rush! congrats, enjoy the brew!! & drink one for me!

Rob those are awesome finds!!

I was back home in England in 2006 for 2 months, sure wish I was detecting back then.
My family is from Buckinghamshire and Derby.
Can you fly with a detector?

Yes you can fly with a detector, Iv'e taken mine to Cyprus twice. I stripped the machine down took out the batteries and put it in my suit case. I detected the beaches on Cyprus it's not allowed inland, the history of that island is fantastic . It would have been very tempting to have hit a couple of fields at night, but I didn't fancy a few years in a cypriot jail.

I guess the knight is a spoon terminal, probably later than the knight its copying. Dad had broken half of one of those seal of the big grass field we are doing. Funny thing is the signs are good but the good finds are lacking.

Hi Crusader, Yes probably the top of an apostle spoon from around the Tudor period. Although it could be older. Re. your button today, had these a while ago, any idea of the age they certainly look early.

Yeap all Tudor (15th-16th century types). The pyramidal type is slightly rarer (in my experience) than the one I pictured yesterday. I have only had 2 or 3 in all my years. Nice items, I'm pleased easily & would call it a good day with just 1 of those ;D
