If you have to walk across the room to the fridge to grab another cold one, you will never get there. If its ten feet away, you have to walk half way to get there, say five feet. Then you have to go half way of the five feet, then half of that. When you are down to an inch away, you have to go half that distance. No matter how far away you are, or how close, you still have to go half the distance. If you are a hair away, you still have to go half way of that, and on and on. You cannot possibly ever get to that cold one. It just is not possible.
