10pm last night my mate got a text asking for us to find some lost keys that one of their farm workers had lost. We agreed to met the guy who thought the keys must have been lost in one of 4 spots where he got out of the tractor to fix broken bolts. We knew he took us to the right places because we found the broken bolts. It wasn't until the last spot that my mate found the keys. They were super pleased, & always good to return a lost item. This took 45mins.
We then spent 2.5hrs gridding the Track-Way Site.
Its tough to see but I did find a copper core to a once silver plated Sceat. (Contemporary forgery) Museum did an amazing ID:
This is Series K (Type 42), Metcalf variety (c), a coinage of south-eastern England between about 720 and 730/735.
Saxon Strap-end
Unusual Saxon Clothes Fastener (need to look this one up) PS. not in my book
