I took the fam out detecting in an old field. My 2 daughter's were excited to be on pinpointer duty. We started getting targets right away, mostly farm bits and bolts. My 6 y.o. tells me all we find is junk. Then a silver coin from the 1800s I'm excited. She says "Yea it's ok, at least it's not junk." She's now bored and my 3 y.o. takes over. She's mostly bored too. Then I get a great signal and dig a beautiful horseshoe plug, 6 inches down I see a gold coloured coin perfectly in the middle of the plug and it's clean. I quickly realised it's just a 50 cent euro but it's pretty. I call her over to look at it and she says "wow that's cool". Hey signs of a digger. I ask if she wants to get it. She runs over and reached in to grab the coi.....nope worm, she grabs a 6 inch squirming worm out of the side of the plug and takes off running dropping the pinpointer. Yelling look what we found I don't think she ever saw the coin. 20180721_183216.jpg20180721_183240.jpg20180721_183253.jpg20180721_183606.jpg20180721_192823.jpg20180721_192937.jpg
Anyway here are the finds. If someone could identify the 1689 coin that would be great. Also unsure of the foot. Finding broken hammered coins is certainly disheartening. But we had fun. Enjoy.

Nice buffalo nickel. I love seeing Ww 2 era US coin drops in Europe

Very nice! 🙌 Your little girls sound EXACTLY like mine, when I first took them out. 😂

Strangely as awesome as it is to find all these 1500-1800s silver's the US coins are just as satisfying

Congrats on some great coins, and spending time with the family.

You and your children had a very productive hunt! :occasion14: Do not worry they will get the metal detecting bug too!

Wow many coins :icon_thumleft:

Nice little selection.
I see you have a German Jetton in the English style of coinage (bottom left), we find a couple of those.

Very funny story, by the way...lol I took my bother out once & he fell asleep on the stubble! Cru'dad took 10 years before he took up detecting with me. It was my Uncle who started me off, glad he did...

Always great to get hammered! Coins that is.......:laughing7:

Nice story, reminds me of my daughters, except they can't share the pinpointer very well.

Awesome finds. Congrats :occasion14:
