The Treasure vs Iron Pots

I always wondered about the use of iron pots because pots are round and gold/silver are typically rectangular so i ran the numbers....

The total gold stashed was 2921 lbs
The total silver stashed was 5100 lbs

Since pots are measured in gallons there are...
160.9 lbs of gold per gallon
87.54 lbs of silver per gallon.

So if you poured molten gold/silver into a 5 gal pots ...
3.6 pots of gold each weighing 804.5 lbs
11.7 pot of silver each weighing 437.7 lbs
For a total of 15.3 pots

Since molten gold/silver is not realistic,
Probably doubling the number of pots to 30.6 would seem reasonable.

5 gallon pots stacked 15 pots (3x5) with lids in two layers seems believable.

2 gal pots would require a total of 76.4 pots and seems a little extreme.

Maybe they used a mix of 5 gallon for silver and 2 gallon for gold because of the weight. The total would be 41.5 pots
