The wife and going meatl detecting !!!!

Well I am 68 years and old picked up an old hobby that I used to do years ago and the wife seamed to like the idea of me getting out and doing something for my health..well after 2 months of going out 3 to 4 time a week for 3 to 5 hours a day, I am not to sure shes to happy about that now, I thank she wants me to hang around and do some yard work....that's no fun...Dam I have been turned into a hen pecked metal detector, I am hoping after she gets well from her broken ankle and she can walk again.. I can get her into the hobby ....

I feel your pain.It used to be the same for me.Now that she is into detecting also,and pretty dang good at it,she hen pecks me to get out there and swing a coil with her.I love hunting with her,she is tenacious.Had to get walkie talkies cause I'll turn around and bam she dissapeared into the forest.


Advice I'll chuck out there...get her a super light easy to use machine that actually works well.We are happy with her f2.The first few hunts leave your machine in the car,she swings,you teach and use digger and pinpointer.If she wants to just go on her own...cool.

You see when i go i tell my wife i am going metal detecting .. Or i will be some time i am on the hunt for treasure …And all she has to say to me is … OK i will see you when you get back…Good Luck..

Keppy...I tell her I am going metal detecting, she says good luck and when get back she wants to see the gold ring I keep telling her I am going to fined and all I pull out of my bag is a hand full of pull tabs and she laughs and says you could have got more done by staying home and mowing the lawn..she might be right......not....but I have to bring something home other ten pull tabs.....

Well that is like most of us we dig more junk than Treasure … But that is the game we play.. But if you get enough pulled tabs they go for around 40 cents a lb now

You're 68 and your wife is just now starting to nag you? Are you a newlywed or did your wife just learn to speak English?

Boatlode.....well its my 4th wife, the honeymoon is about over.....no she's pretty cool about it...she thinks its good for my health and my doctor thinks so too....I just get a little obsessive about my hobbies......

I think someone has this all backwards. "4 detectors, 1 wife." But 4 wives? I stopped at two and learned a long time ago that detectors are cheaper, they provide far more adventure and entertainment and valuable conversation, and no matter how old I get I can always get a new one to keep me company. They often bring ME presents, and, they always let me keep what I find!

You're a slow learner too. It only took me three years to figure out married life is miserable and I got rid of her.

It was expensive, but worth every penny.

Well I have to say for what ever reason...somehow...I came out on top in the end....when your 18 and get married go to Vietnam come back and she's gone..i don't think that counts as a marriage..didn't cost me anything but anger...22 and married, to young...there was another one in there some where...I have been with the same wonderful woman now for 15 years now...a flower child from the 60,s...so things are pretty good these days, all I have to worry about know is where to fined that silver and gold at...

Sounds like you got a great wife jhen999! I married my flower child in 1972 and we have had a great life together! When I say I'm going MDing she tells me to have fun and good luck and has always been encouraging.
I know where the Silver and Gold is! It's laying in amongst the pull tabs! Lol!

Wow, she has a broken ankle and you are leaving her 3-4 times a week for 3-5 hours.. If I did that, I would need to hire a food taster after the first week! If she hasn't let you know she isn't happy about it, you have yourself a good wife!

Hubby only asks if I found any gold when I return, and if I did he doesn't want to wear it, so far!
He always asks if I got my detector when we head out somewhere.
Haven't been able to talk him into detecting, but that's probably because when I'm detecting the beach he likes to walk by and yell "GOLD!!! GOLD!!!" and everybody naturally turns and looks at me!
That will be funny...up until I get mugged!

She is a good woman...I am hoping after she can walk again without the help of a walker, I can get her to pick up the hobby..
