There are more coins in the earth than in circulation?

I had once read that there are more coins under the dirt than there are in actual circulation. Does anyone belive this? It's very hard for me to grasp this concept, but I guess it could very well be true. What do you think? Possible?

I would guess between what is in the ground & what is Squirreled away

is the reason the mint Mint makes between 14 billion and 20 billion more per year

I guess that thread explains the type of person that leaves the random(mainly canadian) change I find on the local coinstar machine pretty regular. I always wondered why someone would leave money, while I like to find it.
