"They said there was silver hidden beneath the wheat.
I trusted them to know; treading lightly between the rows." ---

An old church in Cokedale, CO gave up a few secrets today. After reading Captain SE's report yesterday I was determined to find at least some silver. Hunting in AMM, ignoring low to midrange signals I gave it my best, listening for the whisper of deep coinage. I cranked SENSITIVITY to MAX-32 and was able to handle it. Three wheats (1918-1944-1950), one 1918 Canadian Dime, and one 1929 Rosie averaged 8 to 10 inches down. I began hunting using my SE equipped with Excelerator's 15 inch coil but quickly decided to bring out the big gun, my Excelerator 17.5. I still managed to dig some trash but not near as much as I normally do ---

COIN COUNT:
06 Lincolns
00 Nickels
04 Dimes
05 Quarters
03 Wheats
02 Silver Dimes

TOTAL 20 COINS VALUE $1.94

Thank you for your interest,
GRB

Way to go on sniffing out those silvers ! Sometimes it's good to do some tweeking of the machine . It keeps us on our toes . Great finds !

Re: "They said there was silver beneath the wheat ---

Way to go on that rare Rosie! I hunted years for one of those. Some people have all the luck.

Re: "They said there was silver beneath the wheat ---

Nice job, GRB!!!!

Glad I was able to give you a little determination. Looks like it paid off for you. I really wish I could find more of those older canadian dimes. I only have 2 this year, and both are the later silver ones (with the sailboat on the back). Guess I should be md'ing in Canada if I want more... ;D

IMHO, of all the detectors you own, that SE is the best in the turf for deep oldies....

Congrats,
CAPTN SE
Dan

PS - don't you know a merc when you see one?? ;D

Hey Guys!
A Coloradian gentleman hand wave for the reads and comments! :)

Captain!
Regarding Little Miss SE, there isn't no "best" detector is there? I find each of the ones I own have at least one feature better than the others. I do tend to grab Little Miss however when I'm in the serious MD'ing mode primarily because of the variety of "SHOES" she has. :) I'm really impressed with Fisher's F-75 although mine is still ailing from a bad coil connecting end. The vendor was supposed to have replaced it this past Tuesday but due to a department error didn't. I should receive the new unit UPS today. I'm poised to pounce on a DFX and will probably nod a yes next week on a new one. It will complete my MD'ing arsenal. At least, for now. :)
