They're ugly, but they're silver

A local college has been troubled for years by a state road that bisects it. Finally, after dreaming about it for decades, the college is getting its wish: the road is being relocated! As part of this project, neighborhood sidewalks are being torn up; I was fortunate to hear about it and take small advantage. I went over briefly this morning and managed to pluck a 34 and 43 Washington from the rubble left over. I wish I had been able to get over sooner, but you can't live in despair over every lost opportunity.

Great job HD. Glad you got in for some of the action at least. Very neat.

Good deal Henry. Great to get Quarters but you should clean those up. They do make silver polish. And polishing those will not decrease their value.

There seems to be a lot of construction going on now. I saw one project they are doing in my neck of the woods. The homes were built in the 60's so I'm not going to really bother.

As Bob suggested, I used some silver polish on these ducklings; while they're not swans, they're not as hideous as they were. I also posted the new picture at the beginning of this thread for comparison purposes.

Re: They're ugly, but they're silver

Henry,
Noble try on the cleaning. I bought some silver polish at walmart. It works but is a very mild polish. To get any effect on my toughest coin stains I would have to coat, rub, wipe, coat, rub, wipe, etc for many many cycles before it would have any effect. I bought another polish recommended by JerDFX. It's called Mother's Mag Polish(or very close to that). It works much better. So if I want just a touch up and want to keep some of the original look I use the first polish. If I really have a serious clean job I use the Mother's Polish. Of coarse more than not I just leave the coin as found.
