@#&%*@ Thieves!

Hello all, I am back. Only this time I am starting from scratch all over again. It seems that my storage unit was broken into a month ago and my two metal detectors were stolen alomng with all my of my fathers electrician tools and generator. I know darn well who one of the thieves are, but the sheriffs department isnt doing squat about it. The crazy part about all of this is, the person(s) who broke into my unit had cut the padlock off of it and replaced it with another one to make it appear to the property manager as if it wasnt tampered with. The LEO's here refuse to dust for prints on the lock, or to even follow any of the leads that I gave them..... what's worse is that the person who is involved is my younger sister's abusive boyfriend who she just ended up marrying without telling anyone last week.

I have never felt this angry in my life and I am really trying to hold it together, I am just trying to figure a way of how to deal with this scumbag and how to get back into treasure hunting, I can no longer afford to replace these high dollar units at $1000 bucks a each. If anyone has a good quality used detector for sale at an affordable price, please let me know.

>:( :help:

Sorry to hear....Sounds like it is time to give a good butt wooping to the new brother-in-law.... Start the wooping because he is abusive to your sister, and finish the wooping for the thefts.....

On another subject, it is amazing what a $100.00 still buys....

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

I bet I know how that happened. When someone who has a storage unit and they loose their key, the people that run the place will give them a new lock(for a fee) and some bolt cutters. They probably did that and replaced the lock. May have been a mistake but once they saw what was inside stole your things. You should ask to see the cameras or ask the management if someone would have requested the bolt cutter near your storage who may have lost their key or combo.

Nope, thats not the case. Around here, many people build storage units on the extra land they have outside thier homes to help suppliment thier income, or to pay help pay off the land they own. This wasnt a commercial U-haul type place, just a independently owned place, and if they dont know you personally and have record of you being a renter, they wont help you in any way and will contact the renter immediately. They most certainly dont give out locks and bolt cutters either here either. What had happened (from the evidence that I gathered) was that the would-be brother in law needed cash and knowing that my father and I had a storage unit there (my dad was being nice and hired him to help move his work equipment there) and tipped off a family member or friend to hit the place, where they would split the money after selling off the stolen goods in another nearby state. The lock that was cut off required a key to work, the lock that was put back on was a combonation lock and they even left behind the bicycle cable that went with it!

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

start scoping out e-bay and craigs list for your 'stuff' -you might get lucky if they didn't dump it at a flea market for less then half of the value...hopefully you have serial #s some place...once you find them online- recall your useless cops and ask them to call for a meet/buy so they can give out some new shiney bracelets. generally if you do all the work cops like the credit for arresting people. sucks that your new in-law shouldn't be...like the butt kicking idea, unconnected new friends should visit him and show him some love... :icon_pirat: and i don't mean that in a hugging way either... :icon_scratch:

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

Well now if this was me, I have my own thing I would do. I would catch him off somewhere at night all alone, away from any public place, knock him to the ground and stick the barrel of the gun in his mouth and have him start talking! You would be surprised at what answers you might hear. I would also inform him if he told anyone what had happened, you will come back in full force and he might not make it! But, that is just me! I hate freaken thieves!

The other thing is contact the Sheriff and file a complaint that the local law enforcement office is failing to investigate a theft properly. the Sheriffs don't like city law dogs who won't/don't do their jobs to protect the citizens/victims rights. Especially when they fail to investigate any criminal activity! I would do this one if you are not wanting to pull the fist choice first!

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

Some police are worthless and could care less. Sorry to hear about your loss. You can hire a private investigator to deal with it, they will get the job done. Costly but at least you'd find out who did it.

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

Been told that $200 and a picture in the proper places around Charlotte or Raleigh could make your sister a widow ................
Doubt you have much chance of recovering goods . I been lookin for some for 30 yrs .

Normally a good idea, but it is the Sheriff's Office that is failing to investigate it. I guess this is what the town gets when they elect a weed-smoking sheriff into office.

That's true, but I also dont want to lose the love and respect of my sister, we are very close. Sadly she is acting like a brainwashed idiot right now...... I dont know what sly crap he says to her to make her want to get into these matters deeper with him, but it is working very well. I dont expect to see our stuff ever again really, but I do know the next time this guy makes another wrong move, I will see to it that he never walks again. It will be impossiple for him to raise a hand to my sister when confined to a wheelchair.

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

Sorry to hear about your situation. This would never happen @ my storage unit. That place is like Fort Knox.

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

Hi Eric......Sorry to hear....Me, I'd set his A** up......Revenge is a dish best served cold....

Time to set the Sheriff up! :notworthy:

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

Dang everything I type I have to erase. Tell him you have a witness come clean or say you will file a report. :dontknow: Sounds like he needs a pillow sack over his head and beat with a little barb wire one night. I will not tolerate a theif.
I would aslo try to sit and talk nicely with your sister and see if she will help. Get the whole family involved and tell everyone so it gets back to him.
So sorry and best wishes!

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

the only thing worse than a thief is a liar. you know a thief will steal, and if the will steal, they will lie. I'm not saying to forget about it, just don't let it eat you up

Re: @#&%*@ Thieves!

I have a sister like that. She has a good heart but an absolute dumb a#% when it comes to men. I quit talking to her about 5 years ago . It is ashame but I am pretty bitter about what she put our family through. I had a coin collection stolen from my parrents house while I was over seas and my ex brother in law had to be the one to take it. She left him for someone worst but that one was not ever allowed at my parrents house. You can pick friends but not family.

Well you could do one of 2 things.

1. You could contact the FBI and report the Sheriff. But on the other hand the Sheriff may come retaliate.

2. IF you have a good bit of time on your hands. Find someway to get some stuff, electronics, or whatever. Go to pawn shops and buy some stuff cheap. Get some heavy things of value if you can that requires 2 people to pick it up. Rent a generator for a few days if you can and get insurance on it when you rent it, have the piece of crap help you unload the stuff at the storage unit and make sure he sees all the goodies.

Come back shortly in another vehicle with a friend and stake out the storage unit. Now it may take you sitting there a while, especially if he hits it at night. When you see the scum bag come back and break in it again.........cap his a$$ the minute he has picked up something and placed it in a vehicle! While you capped him you can ask him where your other stuff is before you cap him again. I am sure he will cooperate with you.

Oh, it would also be a good idea if you had a video camera going while you record him of the crime in process! Just make sure you don't video record capping him! Oh, if you need a throw down weapon, get some ceap knife that no one knows you have and cut your arm or something to make it look like he attacked you when you caught him. Self defense goes a very long way!
