Sterling is .925 Silver, 12 is the size of the Thimble - nice find :icon_thumright:

With the "Sterling" mark all I can offer is that it is probably American made. Here is a little tidbit about thimbles for you, besides being used for sewing did you know that thimbles have been used to measure whiskey and prostitutes wore them to tap on client’s windows?

whats the picture on it, a circus?
It looks like a circus tent on the right. Could be mountains.
I will go along with it being American made.

Good morning,

Your thimble may possibly be by Stern Brothers, NY, ca. 1890, please see following reference:
http://www.trocadero.com/stores/fromhemlockbrook/items/988705/item988705.html

Or possibly Simons, please see following reference:

Second row.
Obviously these are just starting points but the styles are very reminiscent of your thimble, my humble opinion of course, nice find.

Best regards,

Thanks Bear they look a lot like it. $45.00 to $65.00 . I will be looking for these at rumage sales.
