I have tried to research old coins but I have not found any coins ever made that had no back. The back is hollow sort of like a button or a peice of a above ground tomb. It is smaller then a US dime, and was very wet when I found it. I have not cleaned the item, I have only removed mud from the hollow back hoping for more information such as dates or other symbols but no luck. Any infomation about this relic would be wonderful.

What do the words on the ribbons say? At first I thought it was a Maryland cuff, but not the same..

looks like a blazer button, can we see the back?

The back is now up. I have only removed mud out of the back but it has a rusty golden tint. Simular to old brass or copper. Once I figure out how to use this new scanner better I will post a bigger picture.

That brings up the questions; what type of blazer, how old is the button, and of course is it worth anything?

After hours of stressing my eyes with magnify glass I finally figured out that the banners say (left)Philadelphia (right)Maneto. I'm doing further research on the topic. This information should help.

Welcome to the Forum! Here is an interesting website:
http://www.treasurenet.com/f/index.php?topic=7971.0
Quote from that site: The Philadelphia Maneto shield was adopted Feb. 14,1874 and means Let Brotherly Continue (taken from the New Testment). It was said to be the last remarks of William Penn's last descendant to gaze upon the city in the 1800s That Our City of Brotherly Love Continue

Great follow up on the blazer button ID Breezie. :icon_thumright: Fashion buttons are usually iron backed.

thank you everyone for the information on this button.

My only question now is, is it worth anything?

Listen to Rando, he gives good advice. As Rod Stewart sang, 'every picture tells a story don't it.' Breezie

It was probably on a blazer that was sold all over the US.
