Sheeeeeeesh !

I am so sick of these commercials that are constantly "bombarding" the airwaves these days...
Every ten minutes the same ones over and over...
I think a case of harassment almost applies.

Don't these guys realize that they "turn people off" with this ?

Oh yeah... gotta biatch about one more thing...
The news was actually talking about what CUPS Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts will be using for the Holiday season... ? ? ? WT ? ? ?
I mean talk about free PR...
AND boring AS HELL ! ! !... WHO CARES ?

Does anyone on this earth really care what cup will be used by some conglomerate corporation to serve us in ?
PURE stupidity...
Newscasters are dorks.

ON GOOD NOTE...
The weather girl is easy on the eyes. :P

Tell me your grip...
Let it out here... what are your likes and dislikes about T.V. these days...

one word.....DVR !

In this day and age you do not need to watch commercials, I DVR all the TV I watch, if not I'll pause live TV, go do something else, and then come back, happily skipping through the commercials.

Well I watch / leave the news on in the mornings... "background noise"...
And...
I own no DVR. :P

They have played the same Toyota commercial 10 times in the last hour.
The one with the Spanish music...
I am now hating both songs thanks to them.

Arrrrg make that 12 times now.

I too watch the news as background noise, but don't watch too much TV in general. This winter I may catch up on some shows. During commercials I do things around the house and end up missing parts of the shows. I do watch more movies but those are on Netflix or Red Box rentals. TV is a lot of noise to me........this site is my entertainment.:headbang:

BTW... I lost count on that Toyota commercial...
Sheesh the elderly who sit around the T.V. a lot are gonna go nuts and rise up and become zombies from this "attack" by companies.

I have to agree with you AARC on the commercials. I mute them if I am watching TV.
What bothers me more is the dumbing down of Americans with these stupid shows. I don't watch any of them.
What they call comedy these days is no laughing matter as far as I am concerned. If people don't think that there is a satanic agenda
at work on the tube, then they don't have their eyes open. If I had small children these days I would closely monitor what they are watching.
I did that when my 2 were growing up anyway. I was a single dad for 15 years..so I had control (without interference) of what my children could and couldn't do.
I am thankful to say that they aren't whacked out adults.
When you talk about the news programs..sheesh....news is more like just another social media entertainment program. And yes...they are using the pretty ladies to keep
your attention on more than the weather chart.
Because of Toyota of Orlando and Toyota of Clermont...I would never consider having a Toyota.....I won't be brain bombarded into their products.

if I ever entered a coffee shop & they wrote my name on the side of the Cup,
I would complain they spoiled the coffee & just to be a nuisance insist they
make me a whole new cup.

as for commercials , Don't watch them. that's what DVR & fast forward are for

Most car commercials "turn me off" of their product.

Top 3 commercials I see are as follows...

#1. PILLS ! sheesh frigging drug dealers... they are worse than the Cartel.
#2. Insurance - An insult to our intelligence and border lining a scam.
#3. Lawyers/law firms... Suing the above 2.

AND I have to mention #4 anyway... CARS !... How many damn cars do we need ? sheesh ?
I don't know how they stay in biz like they do.
I mean how many cars can you push on us.

If you gave me one of these new ones FOR FREE ...
I would sell it and spend the money on something better. :P

MAin reason... Save on the insurance ! :P

Mine is over ten years old... My other 20...
and if you gave me one of those new ones FOR FREE ...

What I find hard to believe is, why would anyone want to take the cartels' pills after hearing the side effects?
For example.....take this pill and stop smoking. You may die from a heart attack or want to commit suicide while taking the pill....but you may also stop smoking before either of the side effects get you. Long term side effects not known yet.....
I like the older vehicles without all the GPS and such. I can change my own spark plugs cause they are where I can find them....ha.

I hate commercials so I DVR everything I watch, I either watch it at a later time or if I want to watch it when it is broadcast I wait 20 mins after it starts on a 1 hour show then watch it and skip the commercials, It still gets over at the normal time that way.... I get to pause rewind and see anything I missed or want to see again in slow motion..... Slow motion is nice on a HDTV, especially on shows with sexy ladies dancing..:icon_thumright:

You hit the nail on the head.

I don't have cable tv. Stopped doing that a long time ago. I got one of those big antennas and put up beside the house.
Free digital gives me plenty of channels. I especially like the stations with the old programs like "Laramie", "Andy Griffith".
I do of course have the internet and am able to hook the laptop up to the 55" tv and watch free TV from there.
I have never been a fiction reader of books, always figured that was a waste of my time reading someone's imagination. I would much rather read non-fiction, as I figure I may be learning something worthwhile.
The same goes for TV.....I would much rather watch a documentary, or something like the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, or one of the Treasure Hunting shows than waste my time on senseless
sitcoms. Most of those shows can be streamed free from the internet. I will not pay $100 a month for 300 channels where only maybe 5 of those channels have anything worth watching.
I really don't watch that much TV anyway...I'd rather be at the beach with the Nokta. Even if I'm not finding anything....the scenery is always good.

P.S. I wonder if I can use a DVR without having cable....will have to look into that. Slow motion, freeze frame..........ouch......just got smacked....someone was looking over my shoulder!!!!!

The ones lately that get to me are those cheesy "viagra type products" ads!

"when the moment is right" heh.

I can only think of a few moments that are not right ...

Anytime the kids are around...
At/during church...
Or while at courthouse... at least while in court.
And definitely while getting some form of surgery.

All else is open for brief discussion.

Oh boy, you touched a sore spot there with this topic! I will readily admit that I watch my fair share of TV... probably a bit too much, but at the moment it's my main source of entertainment, so I'll own up to having it as my main vice. There are several things that I have noticed getting on my nerves lately, the bulk of them having to do with those damned commercials!!

First of all - there are TOO MANY of them. A half-hour show is actually more like 18-20 minutes, and an hour-long show is barely 40 minutes... what a ripoff!

Secondly - there are too many that are repeated ad nauseum, the same select few over and over and over. If I was unlucky enough to be in the market for any of that crap, I think I'd boycott the products from those particular advertisers just for spite!

Thirdly - I resent the h*ll out of ads that assume I'm an idiot (even if the ads aren't even aimed at me). For instance - the mascara ads that promise the ladies they can get such amazing results, then in microscopic print it says "eyelash inserts are used to enhance effect". WTF? Or ads that show a jetliner landing or snowplow plowing and they say "Closed course, do not attempt" Aw c'mon... I WANT to land a Boeing before I die! Or the spray cleaners that show some doof spraying a little blob of cleaner on a "dirty" window, then they wipe it with a huge sponge and the whole area of the sponge wipes the dirt clean, even where the so-called cleaner didn't get sprayed...hmmmmm.....

Fourth - the ads that seem to have a subtle hidden social engineering agenda - I refuse to have my mind controlled by some snotty self-righteous ad agency, and when I feel this is what they are trying to do it only hardens my resolve to maintain my own POV. And that's all I'll say about that.

Fifth - I truly resent how the stations have all agreed to air their commercial content in the exact same time slots. If you try to surf away from an annoying ad, all you get are other annoying ads on all the other channels... even the weather and news channels are not immune to this!

Lastly - holiday ads that start two months prior to the actual event. This is a disease of epidemic proportions in our lives these days, and I for one would like to see some sort of regulation stipulating no advertising concerning any holiday until the start of the month that the holiday is actually in (or two weeks prior to the holiday in cases where the holiday falls within the first two weeks of any month). There is absolutely no need whatsoever to be reminded constantly for 60 days or more that a holiday is approaching.

Having ranted on like I did, people may wonder what enjoyment I actually get out of TV! *L* Well, there are shows that are worth the aggravation, and for those few I am grateful and will continue to watch. As already mentioned several times, the DVR is a real help in this area.

All the insurance companies need is an address in Nigeria and we would call them scams.

Going through a mess with mine at the moment.
Deer hit me at 5:10Am November 5th. We're talking about lowering his shoulder and coming straight into the headlight. 4 or 6 point buck. Hard to count when you're trying to avoid an accident. I was treated fore injuries 15 minutes later.

I put in an online claim. Without a call, without clarifying anything, without going over the claim, it was DENIED.
No ticket, no prior accidents, no claims.

I suggested they send back every penny I've paid them, minus all the money they've paid me. They've quit talking.
Insurance is not a consumer product. It's a legal mandate in Texas.
These people claim they'll be there when you need them. Yep. They will be there quoting fine print; telling you how wonderful it is that you have to legally keep paying them to use public roads.

I used to be proud every time I saw an ad for this company, thinking I was insured by the best.
Now I get sick knowing all the empty promises.

Take all their ads off TV.
