As far as calipers go but what kind of gun was it shot from? It's flat as a flitter on top,almost like a wad utter would be. Alsoooo I snuck in a picture of a hunk of iron I found yesterday for a possible ID which could possibly be just a hunk of iron.

.38 caliber Semi wad cutter. Can't date too far back, I've shot a zillion of 'em. Oops, I kind of date far back, it's the mind. No kind of a guess on the iron thing.

Thanks guys,the color threw me off a bit,looks like the color minie balls are.

Same material, lead. Or given that it's newer, could be a alloy of lead and tin. Some casters prefer their bullets to be a little harder than you get with pure lead, so they mix in some tin. Still looks about the same though.
