This evening's silver

Met up with Mark this evening at a school to do a little hunting.

Tonight's Finds:
10 Wheats - Oldest was a 1917S, rest were newer
1944S Mercury Dime
Sterling "R" Ring
Sterling Pin - SHOLD-R-FORM - Found broken, so I'm tempted to count it as TWO silver! :)

I believe they are! Here's a pic of a couple of them I saw on a website.

I see that SE Pro coil is treating you right!!

Yeah, that's what I figured they were. Not really sure how they got busted up so badly though. They are pretty cut up on the outside.

We need to get together again to do some hunting!

Re: This evening's silver

Nice captains bars. They don't make them in silver these days so they're probably old (I was an Army captain at one time). If you found them at a school, it may be that a former miitary officer gave his son his bars to wear with his ROTC uniform. Cadets use actual rank in some cases although not always. I think the marking may give you a clue as to the manufacturer and maybe the age.

Nice ring. It looks old to me also.

Great finds. I would love to have a day like that!

Oh, and don't forget to check that '55 wheatie for the double die obverse variation.
