I think it should be on the banner too!! Bone from prehistoric time periods is rare no matter where you live (and still be in that kind of shape)
I found a couple of bone needles on my folks place, the best one is in such good shape because it was exposed to a fire at some point.
Thanks for showing and sorry for the late reply.

Effigies and art kinda merge don't they? I think most sculptors consider them to be art of a very pure form, just like cave paintings. It's that push to acknowledge something besides survival, it's an attempt to ask why, and then try to answer it. And with most primitive man-made art, it's a one of a kind. That makes it treasure! I vote banner too!

Hey Larson,

The amount of art in some of your artifacts leads me to at least one conclusion. The people that made those were doing very well. When a group is well fed, clothed and sheltered, and only then, would they have the extra time to produce art for arts sake.
A starving group would only have the time and energy to try to acquire the next days groceries.

That is a beautiful piece! I would put it in a frame of weathered wood, all by itself.

Keep 'em coming!

BW

thanks bravo. I believe you are right on your thoughts
this is what I just wrote to fla gal on my 10-1 post:

these people lived in big earth lodges and were not nomadic
between growing squash, corn, and beans and fishing and hunting buffalo, elk, bear, and deer they had food stashed away that could last about 2 years most of the time
they could trade food for many things such as copper and different shells and stones and who knows what else
