I know this isn't an exciting discovery in the field, but interesting anyway. Today, gold at an outrageous price, has outpriced platinum. Not long ago Pt was several hundred more. Some years back, Pt was double the gold price. Perhaps someone with more precious metals speculation experience could expand on this. Could it be the time for buying platinum???

Sorry if this may not be the exactly right forum.

The market has tanked over the past week.. With the Downgrading of the countries credit, Gold climbing was no surprise.. with the way the economy has been over the past 5 years, gold has had nothing to do but rise.. I didnt have the money but 3 weeks ago I was offered 5 Kruggerands at $25 over spot.. That was $1627 an ounce to me...

Bummer on the K. R.s, but you are right about nothing but up. I purchased jewelry settings under $300, and waited until it went up to $600 to purchase gold coins for my coin collection, and felt bad then. But I am still interested in the platinum to gold price ratio. Silver was making a huge run on the gold price, too, but that has slowed down.

Stunned was my feeling also. What you do if you had 10 grand extra? Pt, Au, Ag? Pay bills? Buy a house? ok, that isn't funny.

Ok, someone saw my post. Gold went down $28 and platinum went up $24. Platinum is back on top, but just barely. I suppose I can sleep tonight now.
