Nice find- maybe its the lighting.... but that does look like it could almost be an egg!

Thanks Jeffro. It has a thin uniform shell and is filled with a very fine light orange quartz or silica. Pretty cool for here either way. Thanks for the reply. Ray P.S. after deer season Ill let you know about the black sand. The cool thing about this certain location is the bottom is solid bedrock. Im very excited, just need to get a pan.

just wondering...are geodes with nice crystalline amethyst in them worth anything? I found a spot where there are quite a few up here in Alaska..
