The most interesting thing was this buckle dated 1855.

Cool old buckle. It utilises Sheldon S. Hartshorn’s 10 July 1855 patent for a manufacturing improvement of a two-piece die-formed buckle.

In 1855, Hartshorn was employed by George R. Kelsey’s “American Buckle and Cartridge Company” in Middletown, Connecticut, which relocated to West Haven in 1856 after the factory was destroyed in a fire.

Nice suspender clip.
Here in this link it discusses the dates of the similar pin fire Headstamp of ELEY.
It shows the 8 with the star on eitherside and it mentions the 12 as yours.
