This metal figure has me stumped as where to even begin to try and find an ID.

NOT SURE WHAT YOU HAVE THERE BUT PRETTY NEAT.

Pretty cool find. Just appears that someone at some point was trying to make a little figurine.

What is the metal type? Lead/pewter etc?

It is very heavy/dense and Id guess lead or pewter but it doesn't seem as soft as I'd expect it to be if it was.

Was this found while metal detecting? If so, was it deep? What other kinds of finds were nearby? Was the site an early one? A little history will help solve the mystery...(hey, that rhymes...) Sub 8-)

It appears to be of medieval design, i.e., helmet with face shield, tunic, cloak. It may be a custom made "Knight" chess piece. It looks like he was meant to stand alone on feet wide enough to be stable. Sub 8-)

That is way cool. My first thought was maybe a chess piece??? I like it!!!

Yes, it was found metal detecting. It was found in an area off to the side of a park. Not deep at all 4" maybe. Other finds in the area have been wheats, a master lock key from the 30's, and your typical park garbage.
