It is very heavy/dense and Id guess lead or pewter but it doesn't seem as soft as I'd expect it to be if it was.

It appears to be of medieval design, i.e., helmet with face shield, tunic, cloak. It may be a custom made "Knight" chess piece. It looks like he was meant to stand alone on feet wide enough to be stable. Sub

Yes, it was found metal detecting. It was found in an area off to the side of a park. Not deep at all 4" maybe. Other finds in the area have been wheats, a master lock key from the 30's, and your typical park garbage.
