Looks like a old striped out drain plug for a oil pan of a engine.much like this big one I found.

That was what I was thinking....like it fitting in a mirror image socket...and whatever it was spinning sheared off...What would you call the shape of that head on the bolt?
Eight sided,but so uneven,look at side views.
