could the big end fit into a socket of some kind?

TT,look at pic 1,don't see how,unless it was super crude.Does have the appearance of being sheared off.

That was what I was thinking....like it fitting in a mirror image socket...and whatever it was spinning sheared off...What would you call the shape of that head on the bolt?

Eight sided,but so uneven,look at side views.
